The 2025 season is off to a winning start for Gainesville girls lacrosse as they sit atop the Area 8-2A standings at 4-2 overall after picking up a dominant 15-6 road win over Duluth on Tuesday.
Led by Harper Everett's eight goals, the Red Elephants converted 71% of their shots on goal as they extended an early-season winning streak to three.
Finley O'Callaghan added three goals for GHS, while Alyssa Serrano, Sherry Tu, Alexa Avila, and Lindsie Tu each added one.
Thus far, Gainesville, playing its first region schedule since the program's inception, has picked up wins over Hebron Christian (13-6), Collins Hill (17-4), and Norcross (14-2). The win over Hebron marking the first region game played and region game won.
While making a mark in the history books for Gainesville athletics is low-hanging fruit this season based on the schedule alone, girls lacrosse is making an indelible impression in said books with their play.
In the win against Collins Hill on Feb. 19, Everett's 11 goals scored set a single-game record. Nine different players scored against the Eagles that night, resulting in another record for most players with a goal in a game. It should be noted that six games in Everett has scored a whopping 31 goals as Gainesville averages 11 per game, 15 goals per game in wins.
Next up for Red Elephant girls lacrosse, a home date against Northview on March 4.
