CLEVELAND - Heading into Tuesday night's road match against White County, the 2025 season has been a struggle for Gainesville girls soccer.

Sitting at 0-4, the traditionally competitive and often dominant program had scored just two goals, and each of those two came in one match.

While competitiveness and dominance are seemingly things of the past presently, the resiliency ingrained in becoming that aforementioned program remains, as the Red Elephants displayed against the Warriors in a 3-2 win.

Three freshmen scored for Big Red, but as stories would go, the match was won thanks to the reflexes of a program mainstay well-versed in the ingrained.

Senior keeper Avery Lindsey stopped a penalty kick with seconds remaining to secure the win, a hopeful momentum builder for a young team.

Class of 2028 members Jadalee Flores, Cyntia Alba-Lopez, and Hanna Campos each had a goal.

Gainesville returns to action Friday at Chattahoochee as region play begins. The girls will kickoff at 5:30 with Big Red boys soccer following their match.
