Silva leads way in run-rule GHS win

LAWRENCEVILLE - Junior pitcher Maya Silva led the way in all ways of Gainesville's 16-3, run-ruled-shortened win at Central Gwinnett on Thursday.

Silva not only struck out eight while giving up just three hits in a complete-game (four inning) win, she went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.

The Red Elephants had 15 hits on the night with Finley O'Callaghan, Judea Hawks, Mayleigh Gonzalez, Nashya Barnett, and Whitlyn Terrell each contributing two.

Gonzalez and Kelsey Lester joined Silva as RBI leaders with Gonzalez batting in a team-leading four runners while a Lester triple gave her two on the night.

Hawks also had four stolen bases and four runs scored, while Barnett had three stolen bases and three runs scored.

Gainesville returns to action Monday at Cedar Shoals, first pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
