The Gainesville High School boys basketball team solidified itself as the top program in Georgia after opening the 2025–2026 season with a dominant 9–0 record. The Red Elephants, who entered the year with high expectations, quickly proved they were worthy of the hype as they climbed to the No. 1 spot in the state rankings.

Senior point guard Kevin “KJ’ White is leading the charge, averaging 12.9 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. White’s veteran presence and late-game poise continue to set the tone for Gainesville’s up-tempo style.

Senior forward Charlie Gersmehl is dominating the paint, posting 13.3 points, 3 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. His physicality and rim protection have become a crucial layer of Gainesville’s scheme.

Senior sharpshooter Bryce Jackson adds another dimension to the Red Elephants’ attack, knocking down 38% of his three-point attempts and averaging 12.5 points per game. His perimeter shooting has stretched opposing defenses and opened driving lanes for White and forward Quintin Mansfield, who contributes 8.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing.

Gainesville is currently allowing just 49.1 points per game, using relentless ball pressure and depth to wear down opponents. The Red Elephants have already collected wins over several top-10 programs, including statement victories against No. 2 Dutchtown and No. 5 Woodward Academy.

With momentum rising and confidence building, Gainesville enters the heart of its schedule with the state’s top ranking, an undefeated record, and the look of a team ready to make a serious run at a championship.
