SUGAR HILL - Two huge rallies led to one big win for Gainesville baseball Tuesday night in the opener of their three-game series at Lanier.

Facing Region 7-5A's top team and a 5-1 deficit heading into the fifth inning, Big Red's bats came alive just in time for them to not only take a sixth-inning 6-5 lead, but score four in the top of the last inning to retake it and down the Longhorns 10-7.

Senior pitcher and outfielder Adrian Medina went 4-for-4 on the night providing a two-run triple in the sixth that scored Beckett Brown and Luke Adams to give GHS its first lead before doubling in the team's final run in the seventh.

CJ Saudarg, among the team's leaders in average (.372) and hits (16), was 2-for-4 Tuesday night with two runs scored and an RBI; his lone run batted proving to be the biggest one of the night. After Graham Fleming scored on a passed ball in the seventh, Saudarg singled in Cohen Miller for the eventual game-winning run, giving his team an 8-7 lead and allowing Big Red to build to 10 from there.

Adams and Peyton Osheaski each had two hits and an RBI for Gainesville. Chase Kiewert had a hit and two runs batted in. Silas Ingram picked up the win.

Gainesville continues its series against Lanier tonight at Ivey-Watson Field; first pitch set for 6:00 p.m.
