In his more than 20 years leading the baseball program at Parkview High School, Chan Brown put his stamp on high school baseball nationally by coaching his teams to every championship winnable, and earning nearly every individual accolade possible for a man in his position.

Now, after cultivating talent to the tune of 17 Major League Baseball draft picks and two decades worth of dominance, Brown is bringing his stamp to Gainesville High School where he’ll take over a Red Elephant baseball program fresh off a resurgence and eager to recapture its own dominance of old.

“My family and I are very excited for the opportunity to join the Gainesville community and I feel honored to be taking the Gainesville baseball job with the rich tradition of Gainesville High School, specifically its baseball program,” Brown said. “As a family we’ve had 21 memorable and wonderful years at Parkview High School and living in the Parkview community. I want to thank all of the players, coaches, and parents for making the last two decades so special for me and my family. We love the community and will forever treasure our memories. Now we look forward to a great new start in Gainesville.”

While amassing his 579-173 record, Brown coached Parkview to 15 region championships, six state championships; and three national championships in 2012, 2018 (Baseball America), and 2015 (Baseball America, MaxPreps, USA Today, Collegiate Magazine.

“The Gainesville Baseball program is deeply important to this community so it was key for us to find a coach that has had a proven record of success not only in the wins column but by developing baseball players and young men of high character,” Gainesville High School athletic director Adam Lindsey said.

“Coach Brown understands the standard and tradition of Gainesville baseball and we have full confidence that his process and standard will reignite the program.”

His prowess for coaching his teams to success led to accolades for Brown himself. He’s been named National Coach of the Year three times by the likes of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), USA Today, Perfect Game, and Baseball America; region coach of the year 14 times; and MaxPreps Coach of the Decade in 2020.

Brown was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame in 2018.
