Gainesville volleyball opened region play Tuesday with a 3-1 (28-26, 25-15, 23-25, 27-25) win over Roswell.

Senior setter Avery Lindsey led the Red Elephants (8-5, 1-0 Region 7-5A) with 33 assists, four aces, six kills, and seven digs.

Junior Kyndall Butler and senior Hannah Stewart combined for 25 kills, with Butler also contributing eight aces and 10 digs. Lily Grace Clay added an ace and 10 digs for Big Red, which travels to Flowery Branch to take on the Falcons on Thursday.
