It's been six softball seasons since the Gainesville program has earned five wins in a year. Tuesday at Central Gwinnett, the Red Elephants ensured the number of seasons would not increase as they beat the Black Knights 20-11, moving their record in 2024 to 5-3.
Senior Brilee Keppinger led the way for Gainesville going 2 for 2 from the plate with three walks. She batted in two runs and scored two runs as well. Freshmen Judea Hawks went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Maya Silva, who picked up the win in the circle, helped in the runs-scored column too, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
All told each of the nine players in Gainesville's lineup scored a run; all but one player had an RBI with Amberly Ayala and Irene Sanchez joining the aforementioned names with multiple RBIs each.
Gainesville hosts Chattahoochee Thursday to open region play. First pitch from Gainesville High School is set for 5:30.
