Red Elephant volleyball beat Lanier in straight sets Tuesday night to maintain their tied-for-second status in Region 8-5A play.

Gainesville (12-8, 2-1) is tied with Johns Creek; both are behind region unbeaten Milton.

Taylor Reid had 17 kills to lead the way for GHS. Reid, Avery Lindsey, Prentice McGarvey, and Lily Clay combined for 50 digs, while Lindsey also contributed 31 assists.

Big Red returns to action Thursday when they host White County for Teacher Appreciation Night. The Red Elephant then turn their attention to the Hall County Tournament which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in the SAC on GHS' campus.
