Gainesville volleyball is headed to the Class 5A state playoffs thanks to a 3-1 (25-13, 26-28, 25-9, 29-27) win over Chattahoochee in the first round of the Region 7-5A Tournament Tuesday at GHS.
With the win the Red Elephants (20-12) also move into the region semifinals where they'll face the tournament's No. 1 seed Milton at 6:30 Wednesday night at Johns Creek.
Avery Lindsey led the way for Big Red assisting on 36 points while also amassing 10 digs, four kills, and two aces.
Lily Clay, Prentice McGarvey, and Harper Orr combined for 56 digs and Weatherly Clay had 14 kills.
The 2024 Class 5A State Volleyball Tournament begins next week. Who and where Gainesville will play depends on their seeding coming out of the region tournament.
