Gainesville boys basketball began their 2024-2025 campaign Saturday travelling to McEachern to play in the Elite 8 showcase where they faced Dutchtown.
Led by KJ White's 15 points, six assists, and five steals, Big Red opened the year with a big 58-44 win.
The Red Elephants led by 10 at halftime and extended that lead to as much as 25 points in the second half.
Jaxson Jones added 11 points and five rebounds for Gainesville, and Charlie Gersmehl had eight points and seven boards.
The boys return to action Nov. 23 in the Hawks-Naismith Tip-Off Classic where they'll take on Wheeler at 5:00 p.m.
