Gainesville girls basketball opened the season Saturday with a dominant 61-38 win over Discovery.
Julia Payne, one of two seniors on this year's team, led the way with 21 points. Newcomer Damaria Colburn had 13 points while freshmen Shailyn Jones and Jaucelyn Smith added 11 and eight points respectively.
The Lady Red Elephants return to action next Saturday at Peachtree Ridge.
