CHATSWORTH - The Gainesville girls moved to 4-0 on the young season after two stomping good wins in the North Murray Turkey Jam showcase.
On Friday (Nov. 22), Big Red beat Pepperell 71-30 led by senior Julia Payne's 16 points. Freshmen Damaria Colburn had 12 points while classmates Jaucelyn Smith and Shailyn Jones had 10 and nine points respectively.
Gainesville wrapped up the showcase with a 61-24 win over Haralson. Smith led the way in the weekend's second game with 13 points while Payne added 11. Colburn and junior Kelsey Lester each had 10 points. Senior Mattie White contributed eight in the team's fourth-straight win.
The Red Elephants return to action Dec. 3 as they open region play at Johns Creek. The girls will tip-off at 6 p.m. with the boys getting started at 7:30.
